Canada is the ideal destination for many over the festive period, with many travelling from far and wide to enjoy Christmas in a country geared up for the occasion in more ways than one. People who call Canada home will often travel to different areas of the country to enjoy the spectacle in all its glory, but if you’re in or heading to Canada for Christmas, here’s the low down on where you need to be.

Toronto
Toronto is the number one destination in Canada at Christmas for most people and it’s easy to see why. One of the huge positives of heading to Toronto is that the flights are relatively cheap, which gives visitors more money to spend when enjoying the Toronto Christmas Market for example. There are also some great Christmas Flower Shows to visit, while the Christmas at Casa Loma is always a big hit. Toronto will always be a popular destination, with over half a million visitors at this time of year to enjoy a city transformed at Christmas.
Vancouver
Vancouver, a city backed by snowy mountain ranges, is a very special and somewhat unique place to be over the festive period. Everywhere is draped in Christmas lights for the occasion, with some great events and markets taking place too. Whilst in Vancouver everyone can go and view the Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, watch the brilliant Nutcracker, visit a transformed Stanley Park and take in the Vancouver Santa Claus Parade. They may do things a bit differently in Vancouver, but that is what’s so great about the place.
Montreal
If you’re looking for a place that does Christmas properly, you’ll struggle to find a better one than Montreal. The whole place is covered in festive decorations during what is the most exciting time of the year, and while there’s no guarantee Christmas will be white, it will still be packed full of fun and wonder. There are some brilliant events to enjoy at Christmas in Montreal, with Christmas in the Park one of the most popular. People can also enjoy a Victorian Christmas at the Sir George-Etienne Cartier National Historic Site, while Merry Montreal is an event with a bit of everything too.
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is a place everybody should visit in their lifetime, with the iconic waterfall one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. However, things get even more special at Niagara Falls over the festive period, making it the ideal place to visit if you’re in or heading to Canada. There’s the Winter Festival of Lights, Santa Clause Parade and the Skylon Tower to visit amongst other things, but the highlight is seeing Niagara white over, which is magical to see and ideal to get everyone into that festive mood. There are also some brilliant fireworks displays that take place over the Falls too, which illuminate one of the most iconic place son Earth.
