Parks Canada Is Waiving Entrance fees in 2017 to celebrate Canada's 150th Anniversary

This week has been a crazy one for Canadian travel announcements. First we find out Canada is getting its first Budget Canadian Airline , and now this! Parks Canada has announced that entrance fees in to all 40 of Canada’s national parks will be FREE during 2017 in honour of Canada’s 150th Anniversary . This is a huge deal! This waived fee is going to introduce some of Canada’s national treasures to countless more people. parks-canada-free-entrance-fee According to Catherine McKenna, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, in her recent ministerial mandate letter.

“Make admission for all visitors to National Parks free in 2017, the 150th anniversary of Confederation,” reads the letter. “Beginning in 2018, ensure that admission for children under 18 is free, and provide any adult who has become a Canadian citizen in the previous 12 months one year’s free admission.” Catherine McKenna, Minister of the Environment and Climate Change

Things To Keep In Mind

While the entrance fees are free for 2017, keep in mind camping fees still apply. But for those planning on purchasing their park pass in 2016, you’ll be pleased to know that it will stay active until 2018! Now get out there and explore! Camping Grasslands National Park - Tent Sunset
