Traveling to a whole new country is very exciting, but there is one thing we always dread: PACKING! We get tempted to bring our entire wardrobe, while others tend to forget to bring essentials. It’s hard to find balance in overpacking and not packing enough.
With that said, here are a few packing tips to help you get ready for your trip.
Prepare All Necessary Documents and Finances
Have all of your necessary travel documents, which are the LAST thing you’d want to forget. Prepare these documents (and a copy of them in case they get lost), along with accessories to go in your carry-on:
- Passport
- Visa, homestay letter, and any work or study permits, if this applies to you
- Health and travel insurance
- ILAC letter of acceptance
- Cash (in Canadian dollars) and credit/debit cards (let your bank know where you are going before the flight)
- List of important contact numbers
- Doctor’s note (in English) and any prescription medicine you have
- Any prescription contact lenses and/or eyeglasses
- Camera, phone, laptop, with batteries and charges
- A change of clothes and your toothbrush with toothpaste.
About the Wardrobe
You should only pack the clothes you need to prevent paying for overweight charges and dealing with heavy luggage. Plan on wearing one outfit a day, including these main clothes items:
- Shirts with both long and short sleeves (cool idea: avail online t shirt printing services and get your shirts to match your vacation vibe in Ontario!)
- Socks
- Shorts, pants, jeans and custom hoodies
- A bathing suit with shower sandals
- Party outfits
- Jacket, raincoat, and umbrella
- Comfy walking shoes and a pair of dress shoes
- Sleeping clothes
- Summer cap.
You may think that Ontario, Canada is all about the cold when their climates are diverse. It can be pretty hot during the summer with a few rainy days, which is why it’s important to plan ahead according to the season you plan on traveling in. Again, do NOT bring all of your clothes and only pack according to the climate in Ontario!
Travel Accessories
Here are other items to consider packing as well, which are essential for travels:
- Hairdryer and hairbrush
- Portable mini iron
- Towel
- Cosmetic and toiletry bag with necessary skincare products and the like.
Traveling doesn’t need to be such a hassle as long as you know what you should bring with you. Keep this list in mind as you head to Ontario, and you won’t have to worry about forgetting anything or having to unpack loads of unnecessary items. Have fun!
