Today has been an exciting day for Canadian travel. After years of moaning, Canada is finally able to welcome a budget airline to its ranks. Serving 7 Canadian cities, New Leaf is the new Canadian airline we’ve all been waiting for. While they may not be booking flights until mid February, I wanted to see what the scoop was.

How is this New Canadian Budget Airline cheaper?

<img alt="newleaf-logo-new-canadian-airline" src="/images/blog/newleaf-logo-new-canadian-airline.png"> In order to keep costs down, New Leaf  stripped the typical flying experience down to its bare essentials. This allows customers to choose what they want based on their needs. If you need front of the line boarding, seat reservations, larger luggage, or drinks, you simply pay a bit extra for each add-on. It’s no frills flying, but if you’re the type of flyer that only needs a book and a carry-on, you can save some serious money flying with these guys.

Check out their New Leaf Newbie page for more details on how they keep costs down.

What Cities Is New Leaf Serving?

NewLeaf is going to fly between seven Canadian cities to start, but hopes to expand into the U.S. and expand its Canadian locations soon.

To start, they’ll be offering budget flights out of:

What kind of Planes will New Leaf use?

NewLeafs planes will be Boeing 737-400s, which house 156 seats in a three-by-three configuration with your standard airline aisle, straight up the middle.

How much do New Leaf flights cost?

According to their announcement, most flights will be approximately $89 - which includes all applicable taxes. The highest priced route and seat will cap out at $149, one way, for a no-frills ticket. That’s a pretty terrific savings. If you’ve ever looked at flights from Regina SK to Halifax NS on Westjet or Air Canada, you’ll know that it can cost an arm and a leg. Getting from Western Canada to Eastern Canada could very well become affordable. Talk about awesome!

150 Things To Do In Canada

I'm pleased to announce my first ebook is available on Amazon Kindle. In honour of Canada's 150th Anniversary, I wanted to highlight my favourite things to do in each province and territory across Canada.

This ebook is super affordable as this is my first attempt at an ebook, and I'm hoping it will encourage people to flip through it before their summer travels across Canada. Please leave a positive review if you find it useful! I'm pulling late nights at the moment working on another ebook which is set to release before summer. Stay tuned!
