Anyone who chooses to backpack throughout Canada will find that there is so much that they need to know prior to the start of their adventure. After all, no one is going to head out on the road without at least a partial plan of where they are going or where they are lying their head down to sleep every night! If this is something that you are considering doing now or in the future, you are going to want to do some research well in advance of your time out in nature.
Meet Backpackers Hostels Canada
While you can spend a lot of time reading books, looking at maps, and going from one website to another on the internet, I am here to tell you that there is an easier way! All you need to do is head over to Backpackers Hostels Canada and read everything that you need to know for any adventure in all the areas of Canada. Backpackers Hostels Canada has been around for decades, and is a staple for finding locally owned hostels. I started working with Backpackers Hostels Canada in late 2017, helping work on improving some systems and revising content, and redesigning the website. I’m proud to say that as of April of this year I have officially taken over as Network Manager of Backpackers.ca. I’m excited to work on supporting locally owned and operated hostels, tour companies, and campgrounds. Along with connecting backpackers with these businesses to promote backpacking across Canada. Backpacking has given me so much over the years, and while I’ve slowed down how often I live out of a bag, I love keeping up with the latest happenings. I’m really looking forward to what this new website is able to do for the industry! We’re currently working on some hostel specific content and are working on creating an improved Q&A style community system for hostels to share advice to improve hosteling for everyone. We’re hoping to launch that in late 2018! Stay tuned!
Helping Travellers, Hostels, Campgrounds, and Tourism Business
Backpackers Hostels Canada allows hostels and campgrounds to share information about their businesses. This information can include prices, special deals, and what is included during a stay at a hostel or campground. Backpackers should be able to see what types of rooms they can stay in, what activities they can do after arriving at their destination or whether or not they can expect breakfast to be included. This will take the guesswork out of any trip! It also provides the backpacker with much needed information on smaller, off the beaten-path destinations.
Find locally owned and operated hostels in Canada
Backpackers, like yourself, can then browse the site and use the information listed to choose the hostel or campground that best fits their needs for each leg of their journey. You will even be able to mark the hostels and campgrounds that you like as favourites. That will help when you plan your next backpacking trip, because you won’t need to start your search from scratch all over again or try to remember which ones you fell in love with during your original search. Don’t forget to sign up as a Backpacker to save those favourites and be able to review hostels and companies.
Discover Backpacker Friendly Tour Companies
Tourism businesses are also able to place their information on Backpackers Hostels Canada, as long as they are conveniently located near a hostel or campground and their services are relevant to those who love budget friendly traveling. The best part about Backpackers Hostels Canada is that you can leave reviews after you have stayed in a hostel or at a campground. Your reviews will allow other backpackers like yourself to see firsthand how wonderful every place is, or which ones might not meet their expectations. Of course, the hostels and campgrounds can also use the reviews to improve their services. Constructive criticism should always be welcomed!
Low annual membership
Backpackers, hostels, campgrounds, and relevant tourism businesses can all sign up to use Backpackers Hostels Canada and the membership fee is renewed annually. The membership pricing for backpackers includes use of the site and all the information on it for a year as well as access to your favourites. However, the pricing for businesses will include the business information, location, website, social media links, business hours, blog links, and much more. Purchase a listing for your hostel, or campground, tour company. Or sign up as a backpacker ! I don’t want backpackers to spend weeks or months planning their next backpacking adventure in Canada, nor do I want the hostels and campgrounds to become forgotten in this busy world of huge corporate run hostels. Coming from a small town myself, I love to promote the independents, and support small business in Canada. I want everyone to join together to create a place where the backpacking community can go to learn how to explore all the beauty that Canada has to offer.
