Introduction to Saskatchewan

Thinking about traveling through Saskatchewan? Great! It means you are a true adventurer. I like you already. There aren’t many of you who have this wonderful rectangular shaped province pegged on you list of places to go in this lifetime. Good on you for keeping an open mind. It is known to most people as a flat, boring, empty, waste of space. I think it‘s safe to say, those are usually the same people who only take the number one highway for the whole 600 and some km straight through from Manitoba to Alberta. They aren’t lying when they say it is flat. Very flat in fact. Would you believe me if I said you can see almost 20 km in every direction when you are on the prairies? It is pretty empty too. There is enough space in Saskatchewan to take our one million-ish residents and spread them out so every person and a half could have a square km to themselves without being bothered. When you hear that Saskatchewan in empty and flat, there is some truth to it. It’s not the whole story though. It really gets my knickers in a twist when people bad mouth my home province as boring, and a waste of time of space. I know better, and I‘m here to educate anyone who would like to know better. I always love it when traveling to get taken in by the locals and shown the true spirit of a place. Don’t get me wrong here, I LOVE the backpacking circus. It is wonderful living and sharing your life with people from all around the world, and adventuring out discovering a new land together. On the same note; locals are usually the experts, and locals can show you things you would have never seen otherwise. Saskatchewan is one of those places where the best times come from leaving the Trans-Canada highway, and making your way down the old dirt road with the locals. Believe me when I say Saskatchewan is full of life, and fun. You just have to know where to go. [mappress]
