How To Apply For Canadian Citizenship Should Trump Win The Election

Applying for Canadian Citizenship is easier than you think. With the trend favouring Trump to win in the primary for the GOP, many Americans are setting their sights further north to live in a more liberal, often times more cold country. My personal opinions aside, if Trump wins the nomination and presidential election, immigration to Canada is likely going to see a spike. While many right wingers said the same thing about Obama winning the election, I think the divisiveness of Trumps campaign may mean more Americans decide to follow through and move to Canada. If you’re one of those Americans looking into Canadian citizenship as a potential escape, you’ll need to find the best option for you to apply as an immigrant. Let’s go through the choices! marry-canadian-move-to-canada

Become a Canadian by Marrying a Canadian

Just like the US, Canada allows for married couples apply for citizenship. While it can be an arduous and slow process here in Canada, it is possible. If you’ve married a Canadian and have been married for at least one year, your significant other can sponsor you and aide you in living your new life as a citizen of Canada. This option does not require any minimum income; however, being gainfully employed will help your situation, as will passing a criminal, security, and medical exam. Just be careful if you’re planning on shadily paying for a marriage. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) catches marriage fraud on a daily basis, so try your best to marry for love. move-canada-university

Move to Canada for School

Canadian universities, colleges, and technical institutes accept countless students from America. Keep in mind, the lower Canadian dollar can actually make this option a reasonable one for moving to Canada, at least temporarily, until the dust settles. CIC notes that American students studying in Canada for at least one year can also get a one year work permit. Study for two years and you guessed it, you can pick up a two year work permit. You can work up to 20 hours per week, as well as full time during summer vacation. It certainly can make the stay cheaper, and allows you to gain some work experience which can be valuable for your new life in Canada. Or worst case, you move back to the States down the road with an interesting line on your resume. Find out more information on how to move to Canada . be-rich-move-canada-trump

Move to Canada by being Ultra Rich

Ah trickle down economics. Yes, even in liberal social democratic Canada, immigrant investor programs exist allowing the ultra rich a shortcut to move to Canada. While each province has its own unique investor program, most require a net worth of at least a 1.8 million dollars, relevant business experience, and an agreement to invest a $800,000 into Canada. business-canada-visa

Move to Canada by being an Entrepreneur

Those who’ve caught the entrepreneurial bug and have already started a successful business will be pleased to hear that they may be able to move to Canada using their skills. CIC requires applicants to have relevant experience, including:

CIC will assess you on experience, education, age, language abilities, and adaptability. The standard medical, security, and criminal check will also have to be done. You’ll have to prove that you’re a valuable asset to the Canadian economy. Showing that you plan on hiring Canadians will help your case, but like all immigration applications, nothing is guaranteed. immigration canada trump
