Hittin' the Road for another Cross Canada Trip

For those who may or may not know, I have been in the midst of planning another Cross Canada Trip for the last 5 months or so. It hasn’t been easy, and there’s been a buttload of distractions along the way. But in just a week and a half I’ll be hitting the open road once again, this time with my friend Justin, a fellow musician / traveler. We’re both looking forward to cutting the strings that held us to our hometown, Justin for his first time, myself for my third. It’s destined to be a blast. We recently came into possession of a wicked campervan (thanks Logan & Karleen), and have been packing it for the last few days. The final destination of this roadtrip across Canada is Halifax, Nova Scotia. Our new home. The goal is for it to be our new base of operations for working on our music career, and trying to get our own small business’s going.

I finally quit my job as an Internet/Mobility technician, which is a huge relief. If I had to answer another phone call from Grandma Louise in Punnichy, Saskatchewan, regarding setting up a Dialup Connection, I probably would have lost my shit. Ha! I also managed to move out of the rental property I’d been living in for the last 6 months, and am currently back in my parents basement. Depressing as it may sound, I’m actually kind of happy to get to spend some time with my family before leaving again. I’m not all that sure how long we’ll be out there, we have no return date, which is part of the beauty of it all. No routines, no expectations, just living the now, and finding joy and happiness in every minute we’re still young.

The drive to Halifax is 42 hours of solid driving from Regina. The ‘81 Econoline is a bit of a shitkicker as we like to call it here in Saskatchewan. So an easy pace is required. Which means I’ve got quite a bit of time to get some sweet content online. My game plan is to keep ‘i Backpack Canada’ up to date while I’m on the road. I should be able to find free wifi at coffee shops and hotels along the way. So expect to see some photos, videos, and posts about backpacking Canada. I’d love to see myself finding enough ambition to film a good portion of the trip, and turn it into some online webisodes. I’ll keep you posted on that idea.

In the meantime, I’ve got some more packing to do. If you’ve got any advice or locations that we “Must-See” along the way, feel free to let me know in the comments. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

150 Things To Do In Canada

I'm pleased to announce my first ebook is available on Amazon Kindle. In honour of Canada's 150th Anniversary, I wanted to highlight my favourite things to do in each province and territory across Canada.

This ebook is super affordable as this is my first attempt at an ebook, and I'm hoping it will encourage people to flip through it before their summer travels across Canada. Please leave a positive review if you find it useful! I'm pulling late nights at the moment working on another ebook which is set to release before summer. Stay tuned!
