The blogosphere is a crowded place, and it can take quite a while to find a few bloggers you enjoy to follow. So in an effort to help out some fellow Canadian travel bloggers, I have compiled a list of my 6 favourite Canadian travel bloggers I think you should be following. Each have their own unique take on the world. Some are covering Asia, others are writing about Europe, several of them are writing about all of their travel adventures, but the one thing that brings them all together is that they each share a passion for discovering new cities, countries, and destinations.
Michael Barltrop - One Year Trip
Michael Barltrop has some good stories to tell through that massive beard of his. This former teacher from Toronto decided to pack up his life for a year and see what he could get done. He’s got some great ambitions,he’s a die-hard traveler, a lover of English, a guitar player, and as you may have guessed it, he’s Canadian. Michael is currently traveling through Peru, a country I’ve always wanted to see. Be sure to follow him along his journey at One Year Trip.
Candice Walsh - Candice Does the World
A Newfy, a redhead, an editor at Matador Travel, and by far one of the best writers on the interweb. If her charm and wit doesn’t get you, her passion for drinks, parties, and travel will. It’s pretty tough to read through any of her posts without having a chuckle. You can find her musings at Candice Does The World .
Dave Bouskill and Debra Corbeil - The Planet D
The Toronto couple known as Dave & Deb have literally morphed into a super travel machine, with thousands of followers, unique posts, beautiful photography, and some great stories to tell. They’re currently traveling through India. If you haven’t checked them out be sure to do so at The Planet D . They’ve got some fantastic travel advice and some great tips on making your relationship work while traveling.
Kirsty Henderson - Nerdy Nomad
Kirsty Henderson is Mother Theresa incarnate. At the very least she’s the ultimate volunteer. She travels all over the world putting in a helping hand wherever she can. When she’s not building houses or providing clean water for the less fortunate, she’s designing websites, and is one of the few bloggers I’ve come across who openly tells readers how her blogging business is going. She gives some great tips for travel bloggers, travelers, and is the person to follow if you’re looking at getting into volunteering. She’s originally from Toronto, however these days she’s either on the road, in London, New York, or helping the world one way or another. According to her recent post she’s volunteering in Sumatra, Indonesia, building some houses. Check her out at Nerdy Nomad or Stuck In London .
Pamela MacNaughtan - Spunky Girl Monologues
If you’re looking for a smart and funny writer with some sweet stories to tell along with some quality photography, you’ll have to check out Pamela’s travel blog. Sounds like she’s going to try and make it to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics for a few days. Definitely looking forward to reading about her trip there. You can find Pam at Spunky Girl Monologues .
Carrie Kellenberger - My Several Worlds
Carrie’s a Canadian expat living in Taiwan, and writes about everything from music, travel, culture, food, books, you name it. She started off on her adventure as an English teacher in China. During this period she was moonlighting as a lead singer of a Filipino rock band. She’s now married and travels all over Asia in her spare time. She’s a great writer and photographer, and has several websites that follow her passions. Do yourself a favour, and meander on over to My Several Worlds .
