5 Tips for Planning a Long Term Camping Trip

Are you heading out into the wilderness for a couple of weeks or longer? This will serve as your guide to staying safe, comfortable, and healthy during your adventure. Here is what you need to know:

Invest in a High-Quality Tent

If you’re only going to camp for a few days, you can rough it with a cheap tent. However, if you need to rely on this gear for several days or weeks, it’s important to invest in a high quality tent . After all, you don’t want to have to cut your excursion short just because the tent has suddenly sprung a leak.

Durability is the most important element here. A well-designed tent made from high-quality materials will last long, regardless of the location or the number of times you have to pack and unpack your gear.

Also choose a tent that is right for the kind of weather you will expect. Camping during cooler months will mean heavy rains, wind, or even snow. Don’t hesitate to invest in a four-season tent. This will keep you warm and won’t be carried away with the wind.

Even if you are camping in the summer, look for a tent with waterproof features. Not only should it have a high-quality rainfly, but also come with sealed seams to prevent water from entering. Selecting a tent with a porch will allow you to store your shoes outside during the rain and prevent you from tracking mud in.

Get a Comfortable Sleeping Bag

A well-padded sleeping bag will ensure that you don’t wake up every morning shivering or with a stiff neck. In this case, a synthetic-filled sleeping bag is the way to go. Not only are these more affordable, but they are also more durable. If you are headed out into harsh temperatures, make sure that the sleeping bag is equipped to handle these temperatures.

For ultimate comfort, pay attention to the shape of the bag. If you need room to move about while sleeping, opt for a rectangular shaped bag. If warmth and comfort is key, then a mummy-shaped option will serve you better.

Stock Up On Essentials

If you are headed out to a remote spot, it is important to have plenty of essentials. The first of these, of course, is water. Since lugging around numerous bottles of water can be difficult, a water purifier or purifying tablets are a better option. This will also allow you to drink water from practically any source.

Next you need to think about food. When camping for a longer period, packing food can be tricky. This is why it is important to make smart food choices . While you can certainly take canned food, make sure to take plenty of long-last food items that are also easy to carry.

Here, the focus should be on nutrient-dense, satisfying foods that also have a suitable calorie count. This includes nuts, seeds, and grains, protein bars, dehydrated foods, and powdered milk.

Always Carry Emergency Supplies

There is no telling what could happen when you are out in the wilderness. Due to this, emergency supplies are necessary. This includes a first-aid kit, an extra flashlight with additional batteries, and a walkie talkie or emergency radio. Under these circumstances, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Summer showers in Canada are frequent so be prepared for rain. That means packing a deck of cards or bringing a smartphone to pass the time on Casino online Canada playing your favourite games and hopefully earning some money for the inconvenience of rain ruining your fire.

Prep Your Campsite for Long-Term Use

If you are going to spend some time at a campsite, it’s important to make sure that the space is efficient and comfortable. Start by clearing the site of rock and any other debris. This allows you to set up your tent, chairs, and tables without any issue.

You may also want to consider pop up canopies for your campsite. These are great to set up over your cooking equipment, camping chairs, or tables. In doing so, you can create a sheltered area where you can cook, dine, or relax.

Remember to keep food storage and trash areas away from your campsite. These should be stored at any elevated level so that wildlife will not be able to access your food.

Follow these guidelines and you should have a wonderful experience that is also safe and fun for everyone involved.
