Parks Canada is without a doubt one of my favourite organizations in Canada. Not only are they caring for some of the most serene, majestic National Parks
, they have created some unique spaces for travellers who want to experience nighttime inside their parks. With a bit of planning, you may even be able to convince the anti-camper to come experience nature with a bit more class. These options provide comfort while also allowing people to immerse themselves in the stunning beauty of Canada. Let’s get weird. Double Tents
We’re easing into the weird for you classical campers. The nested egg, tent in a tent, double tent with a bison on it. Double tents are available at Riding Mountain National Park for $55 per night. The double tent has a smaller tent inside a larger one. Inside the smaller tent people will find a bed, small table and chairs. There are chairs and a table inside the larger tent, plus this tent is bug proof, so everyone can relax outside without the worry of bugs. Micro-Cube
A micro-cube is a space that measures approximately 10 square feet and has a window on one side of the cube. The cube has a contemporary design and a double bed, table and two chairs are inside. The micro-cubes are available for $90 at Riding Mountain National Park and Forillon National Park. I love the bare bone minimalism here. Sure it might be tight quarter’s, but with hiking trails galore nearby you have plenty of backyard room to lounge or explore. [caption id=“attachment_8234” align=“aligncenter” width=“970”]

Cocoon Tree Bed
The cocoon tree bed is a sphere that hangs from the trees in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Inside the sphere is a mattress that is two and a half meters in diameter, which will sleep up to four people. The cocoon tree bed is easily accessed by stairs and costs $70. Goutte d’Ȏ
The Goutte d’Ȏ looks like a large water droplet and measures approximately 6 square meters on the inside. The Goutte d’Ȏ is currently placed on a wooden platform, but in the future it will either be suspended or placed on stilts. On the main level of the Goutte d’Ȏ, there is a sofa bed and there is a hammock in the loft. The Goutte d’Ȏ is $70 and is available at the Fundy National Park. I like to think that if David Bowie were still alive he’d be keen to have his own version of this lit up with LED’s somewhere deep in the forest. Tiny Homes on Wheels
Tiny homes on wheels are available at Waterton Lakes National Park for $160 per night. Each tiny home can fit up to four people and each one has propane heating, a complete kitchen, toilet and shower. Depending on the model, the tiny home will either have one or two lofts for sleeping with other sleeping space available on the main floor. The tiny home on wheels is the only one where people can cook inside and it is the only one that has bathroom facilities. Everything else has bathroom and shower facilities close by. Everyone is required to bring bedding, pillows and toiletries for all of these options. My wife & I just booked this for next weekend, I’m sure we’ll share some photos of our experience by October.
