24 Hours until Departure

halifaxWith only 24 hours to go before departure, I’m beginning to realize how anxious I am to get out of here. I’ve finally gotten my life straightened out enough to drop everything and just go. The sooner I can get out of this town the better. That’s not to say that I don’t like it here in Regina, it’s just not where my heads at. My head seems to be telling me that I should go discover the world, meet new people, experience new things, and just live happily, rather than comfortably. Which is something I would fight a bear for. A full grown black bear. Right in the face. I’m done with riding routine, with doing what’s expected and what’s safest to ensure my future. Routines suck, expectations blow, and safety is just a cowards way of hiding his or her insecurities.

Regina to HalifaxWe’re leaving with a little more snow on the ground than I had hoped for, but no biggy, that’s what long-johns are for. Easily the sexiest way to keep yourself warm. So the game plan is get on the road and drive. We have no set “stop” points, when we’re worn out, we’ll stop. I’m guessing we’ll make it to Winnipeg at the very least. Now, as a Regina boy, I am obligated to hate Winnipeg. And to be brutally honest, I’m not sure why. Another one of those rhetorical expectations that blow so much.  Probably something to do with rivalry football teams, a sport I don’t follow at all, or it could be the fact that they’re another prairie city centre. However their population is significantly larger. Do I smell jealousy Regina? As I said earlier, expectations blow, so I’m going to go out of my way to find something good to say about it, that is, once I get there.

So to sum it all up, leaving=good, expectations=bad, snow=bummer, long-johns=sexy, Winnipeg=5 hour drive from Regina. Feel free to contact me if you know of anything awesome to do in any of the locations we’ll be driving through. I’m mega looking forward to this little cross Canada trip. You can track where I am with our new little map thing-a-ma-jig on the homepage. Expect some photo’s soon, and possibly some video a little later. In the meantime, I’m off to the farm for some thanksgiving dinner.
