I recently had the opportunity to sit down for a couple Red Beers (Clamato + Beer, wuddup!) with Rachel Huber, one of Moose Networks Canadian Travel Guides. She agreed to answer a few questions about what she does and offer up some tips for backpackers interested in traveling Canada. I should also mention that I’ve [...]

Happy Canada Day – Lets Get Traditionally Drunk!

Ah yes, it has finally arrived! One of my favourite Canadian holidays. People from coast to coast to coast put down their pens, close their books, shut down their computers, tuck in their roll-e-chairs that cause them lower back pain and say “Its go time baby!”. Canada Day, Dominion Day, La Fetes Du Canada, or [...]

Roaming on the tip of a Glacier at the Columbia Ice fields

Driving through the Rockies in the warm Canadian summer, it can become all too familiar to see snow & ice, to the point where it becomes as habitual as seeing the clouds surrounding these gargantuan mountains. However, making contact with snow can be rather difficult, as it’s typically a couple thousand feet too far out [...]

An Australian Backpacker Caught In The Vancouver Riots

As everyone knows by now, chaos engulfed the downtown streets of Vancouver after the Game 7 loss between the Canucks and the Bruins. The story has been killed 8 shades of dead by now. We all know windows were smashed, people were injured, cars were lit up, and stores were looted. What many people don’t [...]

6 Things I Learned Rafting the Kicking Horse River

A white shuttle bus pulled in front of the doors of the SameSun Hostel in Banff. The doors clunked open. “Hello mate, ready for some rafting?” – Banff has got to be one of the only places in Canada where it’s totally normal to be greeted by an Aussie.  We laughed and replied with a [...]

Kayaking Near Revelstoke Mountain with The Hoodapus Gang

The Moose Bus pulled up at a small campground on the edge of Williamson Lake, travellers from all over the world climbed out and took in the fresh air. Mount Revelstoke  loomed over us like a protective parent. We approached the small lake and were greeted by an SUV and trailer full of wooden kayaks. [...]

I stretched my aching and tired body across the queen size bed that I’m calling my own. The folks at Hosteling International know how to make a traveller feel welcome. A bed to crash in on one of Vancouver’s most busiest & eclectic streets is all a guy can ask for. I breathed out, and [...]

TBEX 2011 officially confirms that I’m not a Jabroni

Leaving Vancouver after TBEX was a little surreal. After meeting so many like minded travellers, writers, and people involved in the tourism industry, it was sad to say goodbye. Fortunately, bigger and better things are on the horizon which are giving me a new lease on my future in the travel writing industry. I’ve taken [...]

Brief Bio

My name is Corbin Fraser. I'm a 20-something guy from the flatlands of Canada. After taking a year & a bit off to backpack around the world, I came home to Canada and found out my journey wasn't over. I began backpacking from coast to coast for 6 months, and have been doing so on and off for the last 3 years.

I started this site in the hopes of learning a little more about where I come from. Somewhere along the way this travel blog decided to evolve into an independent travel guide for other backpackers and young adults interested in travelling Canada on a budget. Join me for the ride, and if you happen to be backpacking across Canada, feel free to contact me to be part of this unique travel guide. I'd love to hear from you!
