Busking Across Canada for War Child
Liam Titcomb, a
world reknown Canadian Folk Rock Artist, is taking to the streets one city at a time, busking on behalf of War Child. War Child is a non-governmental organization which was founded in 1992. War Child focuses on assisting children in areas of conflict and post-conflict. The charity was originally founded by British filmmakers Bill Leeson and David Wilson. Since then, War Child has expanded it’s offices to include War Child Canada, War Child UK, and War Child Netherlands. War Child Canada’s primary goal is to provide much needed humanitarian assistance in emergency situations. It impliments several long term programs which provide children and youth with the ability to grow to their fullest potential through skills training, trauma healting, education, and by taking an active role in the reconstruction of the damaged communities. War child works in several countries, including Afghanistan, Democrative Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Iraq, Ghana, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Sierra Leone and Uganda.
Liam began donating his time with War Child back in 2003, when his song “War” became part of the “Peace Songs Album”, which included several famous artists, including Bruce Cockburn, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Leonard Cohen, and many more. He is currently Busking coast to coast this summer. Liam just made his way into Red Deer, AB, check out where he’s busking next on his Blog, or visit War Child Canada’s website and find out how you can help.

I started this site in the hopes of learning a little more about where I come from. Somewhere along the way it decided to evolve into an independent travel guide for other backpackers interested in traveling Canada on a budget. Join me for the ride, and if you happen to be backpacking across Canada, feel free to contact me to be part of this Canada travel guide.
